How do we fill our fiberglass pools?

Updated: Dec 27, 2020

Fiberglass Pool Water Delivery
Filling a Fiberglass Pool

This is a great question and one that should be asked of any pool builder. There are many concerns that can arrive if you are to fill the pool from your own source if your builder does not provide water to fill your fiberglass pool. Well Systems have limitations on how long it should run to avoid damage to the pump or running the well dry. Also, most well systems have high iron and or sulfur content which can turn the water brown or orange. This can lead to potential staining of the pool surface and or take a considerable amount of time to clear and additional chemicals.

Early on when we began building our pools there was no option locally to haul water for us. So we were forced to use multiple garden hoses and that would take multiple days to completely fill a pool in some cases. Since then things have improved drastically.

Needless to say, we now have the ability to fill our pools in a fraction of the time we used to. For about 12 seasons we have been using a water delivery service to fill our pools. We now have the capacity to fill a 16x40 fiberglass pool in a matter of hours versus days. As you can see from the photos we can pump a 7500-gallon tanker truck of water into a pool within about 25 minutes. The largest fiberglass pools take about 3 loads to fill the pool. Faster fill = you are swimming sooner.

As you can see there is no need to worry about filling a pool from your own source with Pool Pros
