We get this question a few times a year and the answer will always be a hard no! Why you may ask? The reason is that the pool dig is the most important portion of the project, and in order to ensure our finished product meets our standards, we need to be in control of one of the most important aspects of the project.
We have allowed several clients to perform the excavation in the past and it came back to haunt us. We excavate our pools to tighter tolerances than most general excavator operators are used to. If excavation is done improperly, it can lead to delays in the completion of the pool and additional cost for us to properly excavate the pool, including correcting an overdig and bringing the elevation back with engineered lifts of clean stone.
So for us to allow a client to dig their own pool, the answer is and always will be a hard no. We have lost a few projects over that stance but we can sleep well at night knowing that our pool digs meet our standards and are completed on schedule and on budget.
